Vancouver Whitecaps and Chivas USA confirmed the news on Thursday via their official websites.

Vancouver Whitecaps have reached an agreement with Chivas USA to exchange players Nigel Reo-Coker and Mauro Rosales as confirmed by both clubs on Thursday. This means that Rosales will move to Canada to play for Vancouver while Reo-Coker will move to California to play for Chivas USA in a deal that seems to benefit both clubs.

Mauro Rosales will play for his third MLS club after playing for Seattle Sounders from 2011 to 2013 and Chivas USA during 2014. The Argentinian has made a total of 107 appearances in the MLS, scoring 12 goals.

Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson had his word on Rosales’ arrival.

"If you look at Mauro’s history, he’s constantly creating goals. He’s experienced, bright, and has a super football brain. His delivery on crosses is fantastic, and I know he’s a good guy. That’s important in this locker room. We’re very pleased to add a player of Mauro’s caliber as we make our push for the playoffs.”

Nigel Reo-Coker joined the MLS in 2013 after a 10-year career in England. He made 44 appearances with the Whitecaps and scored one goal.

Regarding Nigel, Chivas USA head coach Wilmer Cabrera said:

“He is an unbelievably versatile player. We feel he can help us with his defending as well as going forward in the attack. We see his experience, leadership and great technique helping us in a lot of ways.”

Vancouver Whitecaps will face LA Galaxy on Saturday while Chivas USA visit New England Revolution on the same day.

Mauro Rosales expressed his gratitude towards Chivas USA fans via Twitter.
