Guadalajara’s President thinks his club will not only avoid losing its Liga MX spot, he is sure his club will fight to win the Apertura 2014

Even though Chivas have not met expectations surrounding their performance in the Apertura 2014 tournament, club owner Jorge Vergara shared his thoughts about how they will do in this semester:

“We are our eyes set on winning it all, not on relegation. We have all the resources possible to turn this all around. Obviously, we don’t want to lose our place in Liga MX, so we have to think in terms that respect this team’s history,” he told a radio sports show in the U.S.

Chivas’ owner, one of Liga MX’s most controversial figures, even had time to speak about their arch-rival America, current leader of the Apertura 2014 tournament.

“I know there’s a big difference if you look at the leaderboard, but rest assured, there’s no difference that can’t be cut back. We will eventually catch up with them and see where we go from there,” he predicted.

Vergara expressed his happiness after Chivas defeated Zacatepec  on Wednesday night at Copa MX’s round 2, hoping this win represents the start of a good streak for the team.

“It was very important; it will help building confidence around the team. We didn’t play magnificent football, but all those who played made their opportunity count, and we hope that helps to start a winning streak,” the owner concluded.

Chivas will visit Veracruz on Saturday as Matchday 7 of the Apertura 2014 unfolds.
