Real Madrid have the possibility of winning six trophies this season. They’ve clinched the 2014 UEFA Super Cup already at the expense of Sevilla. While they are yet to know their fate in the FIFA Club World Cup, Copa del Rey, La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, they are one match away from making it two titles out of two.
Their challenge is to avoid a goalless draw at the Vicente Calderon. The disappointing 1-1 draw from the first leg of the Supercopa de España means that Los Blancos can only afford to win directly over 90 minutes, draw 1-1 and win in extra-time, or draw by nothing less than a 2-2 score line.
Failure to beat Atletico Madrid would be seen as a massive blow for the Galacticos whose starting XI is valued at around £400M. Diego Simeone squad, meanwhile, is much more modest but the prospect of an upset on Friday is realistic, thanks to Raul Garcia's 88th minute equalizer at the Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti is aware that his side is not on the safe side, which is why he warned in the build-up to the Spanish Super Cup second leg game:
“Atlético won't change their style and will play as they did at the Bernabéu because they have the advantage given the positive result. To win at the Calderón we must play with intensity and more velocity than in the first leg.”
