After losing Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona this summer, Liverpool look to replace him with another hotshot South American attacker: Colombian ace Radamel Falcao

After securing the signing of eight news players in this summer alone, it appears Liverpool still have unfinished business in this transfer window.

The English Premier League side are reportedly preparing a £12m bid in an attempt to lure Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao to Anfield, with French radio station RMC (per Metro) claiming the deal will go through within days, in order to fill the gap left by the departure of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.

Despite signing Rickie Lambert and Divock Origi, who was immediately loaned back to Ligue 1 side Lille, Brendan Rodgers is still in search of a striker after a move for French striker Loic Remy was scuppered due to a failed medical, and has earmarked the Monaco goalscorer as the ideal player.

Falcao was previously thought to be on his way to La Liga giants Real Madrid to join fellow Colombian star James Rodriguez at Santiago Bernabeu, with Manchester City also believed to be interested in the 28-year-old. However, both sides have been unable to produce the funds to push the deal through, something Liverpool wish to capitalize on.

The Merseyside club's boss is keen on acquiring the former Atletico Madrid forward's services for the whole season. The Irish manager also intends on inserting a clause into the proposed contract, which will give the Reds the opportunity of signing Falcao permanently next summer for a fee of £31m.

Liverpool have also made inquiries into the availability of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, who has apparently grown frustrated of playing second-fiddle to Swedish talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Rodgers will make a move for the Uruguayan ace if the Falcao deal collapses, but the Colombian remains the club's top target.
