Bimbo will remain as Union’s main sponsor for the next five years.

Bimbo will remain as the main sponsor of Union’s official kit for the next five years as officially confirmed by the club on Wednesday via its official website. The Mexican brand is reported to have paid a sum of $11M to renew the partnership with the Philadelphia club. The relationship between these brands started in 2011 when they agreed their first sponsorship contract.

Philadelphia Union CEO, Nick Sakiewicz, expressed his delight regarding the sponsorship renewal.

“The relationship we have forged between our two organizations the past four years has produced so much value at many different levels. Our extremely successful relationship has allowed both of our brands, as well as the game of soccer, to grow exponentially in the marketplace and we are looking forward to taking it even to higher levels with new programs in the years to come.”

On the other hand, Vince Melchiorre, Senior Vicepresident of Marketing at Bimbo Bakeries USA said:

“Everyone at the Union, from Nick Sakiewicz, to the front office, to the coaches and players, support our efforts and value our partnership. That high level of support and trust made it an easy decision for us to continue our jersey sponsorship with the Union. During the coming years, the Union will work with us to strengthen the connection for consumers between Bimbo and several of our great brands.”

Bimbo’s involvement in soccer continues as the company already sponsors big clubs in Mexico like Chivas and America, and Saprissa in Costa Rica. Bimbo is the largest bakery in Mexico and currently operates over 60 bakeries in the United States.

The club also confirmed the news via Twitter.
