The Brazilian national team's first-choice goalkeeper signs a two-year contract with the Portuguese side.

Julio Cesar signed a two-year deal with Benfica as officially confirmed by the Portuguese side on Tuesday. The Brazilian goalkeeper was transferred from English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers and will be playing for his fourth European club after Internazionale, Chievo and QPR.

Cesar enjoyed European success during his time at Internazionale as he won five ‘scudettos’ and the UEFA Champions League in 2010 under manager José Mourinho.  After Inter, he joined Queens Park Rangers in 2012 and made 24 appearances with the London club before being loaned to MLS side Toronto FC in February 2014.

The 34-year-old officially ended his spell in the MLS last July after playing for five months with Toronto; making only seven appearances for the Canadian side. After that, he went on to play at the World Cup in his home country in a dreadful campaign for Brazil as they lost 7-1 against Germany in the semifinals and then against Holland in the 3rd place match.

After landing in Portugal the goalkeeper gave his first impressions to Benfica’s official TV channel at Estadio da Luz.

On the UEFA Champions League (he said): "It's the trophy that most European clubs covet. Benfica have all the conditions, as long as we respect the other opponents, to fight for winning this competition. My ambition is to win everything."

The club also welcomed the goalkeeper via Twitter.
