Romano’s had a tough time leading “La Franja", the team avoided relegation last season by just two points

After extending their winless streak to four games, top executives for Puebla would be looking to shake things up within the team by dismissing Ruben Omar Romano as coach, according to several sources.

Puebla’s President Jesus Lopez Chargoy would have in mind a few candidates, with Jose Manuel de la Torre at the top of his list. De la Torre is an expensive coach, but Lopez Chargoy hopes “Chepo’s” past as a Puebla player can make him change his mind. Besides De la Torre, Colombian Jorge Luis Pinto, highly praised by leading Costa Rica to the quarterfinals in World Cup 2014, is one of those candidates to take the job. Victor Manuel Vucetich and Spanish coach Paco Ayestarán would also be considered, but only if the first options turn out to be negative.

La Franja’s had a complicated Apertura 2014, earning four points out of fifteen, only winning one match. Puebla also has to avoid relegation, which would be one of the strongest reasons why a change at the helm may seem possible.
