The ‘Revs’ add another offensive player to their roster as they keep fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

New England Revolution confirmed on Monday the acquisition of former U-20 and U-23 U.S. player Tony Taylor via the MLS weighted lottery mechanism. The ‘Revs’ make their second transfer of the month after signing forward Andre Akpan last week from New York Red Bulls.

Tony Taylor has spent most of his career playing abroad and he hasn’t made his debut in the MLS yet. The 25-year-old played for Portuguese first division side Estoril Praia and second division’s Atlético CP before moving to Cyprus in 2013 to play for first division club AC Omonia Nicosia, where he made 17 appearances and scored three goals. Although having played for U.S. youth national teams, Taylor hasn’t been capped for the senior national team so far.

With respect to his signing New England manager Michael Burns said:

“Tony is a younger player who will come in and add to the competition already on our team,”

“He has some speed and is versatile in that he can play up top or out wide on the right. We’ll look forward to get him in as soon as possible and integrated into the team.”

New England currently stands in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and will host Chivas USA on Saturday in the MLS.

Via Twitter, Tony Taylor expressed his excitement to join his new club and his gratitude towards the fans.
