Manchester City has joined a host of clubs this summer who've chosen to trim their squad numbers.

Earlier this summer, Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal announced that he would be cutting several players from his squad as he looks to completely re-shape proceedings at Old Trafford this season.

And now, not surprisingly, Premier League champions Manchester City have become the latest to decide that they need to trim the fat in order to stay competitive and slash their wage bill.

According to reports, Manuel Pellegrini has already decided who will have to seek employment elsewhere if they wish to play regular first-team football, with the unlucky quartet being Micah Richards, John Guidetti, Scott Sinclair, and Matjia Nastasic.

Nastasic is reportedly on the radar for Arsenal as well as several Serie A sides, including Juventus, Roma, and Inter, and Pellegrini had the following to say about the Serbian as he conceded that playing time will be difficult to attain for the 21-year-old:

"Matija needs to play, [but] we already have important players here with four full-backs: Demichelis, Kompany, Mangala and Boyata."

Pellegrini also went on to discuss the futures of Richards, Sinclair and Guidetti:

"That also goes for Micah Richards, who didn't want to continue here because he wants to play more...Scott Sinclair and John Guidetti are also important players - but I don't like to have so many [players] in the squad."
