Los Colchoneros signed forwards Antoine Griezmann, Mario Mandzukic and Mexican Raul Jimenez, among others, trying to revalidate last year’s La Liga championship.

Atletico Madrid needs more players, according to their coach, Diego Simeone. The Argentinian coach spoke prior to the first Spanish Super Cup match against Real Madrid, desiring his team is completed with one or two more players.

“We have to let go some players that we think can develop elsewhere. Taking that into account, we have to round up the team with one or two players. I can’t say which positions we are looking to fill, but we will try to get someone else to come here,” he commented at the press conference.

“As a coach, you expect to have all your players at least thirty days before the league starts, but with the World Cup and all the players that left, we had to recalculate and adapt to the situation. It’s the first year since I’ve been here that something like this has happened, but I trust despite of all the mishaps, we will do a fine job,” he concluded.

Atletico Madrid is looking to negotiate several players. Cristian Rodriguez, Emiliano Insúa, Belgian Toby Alderweireld and Leo Baptistao are among those Diego Simeone is not counting with. According to Simeone, at least two of these players will have their future sorted out by the end of the week.
