Barcelona will face Mexican side Leon in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Camp Nou on Monday, the 18th of August.

The Uruguayan star was slapped with quite a harsh punishment after he was seen biting Italian international Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup which saw him being banned for four months from all football related activities. However upon his appeal the Court of Arbitration for Sport eased the terms and the former Liverpool star can now train with his teammates, which also means that the 27 year old will be allowed to take part in uncompetitive games for Barcelona.

Suarez is now set to make his first appearance for the Blaugrana something which was confirmed by Barcelona’s new manager Luis Enrique.

"Luis Suarez will play some minutes in the Gamper tomorrow," the Barca boss said.

"During two training sessions he's already shown he is really talented. He looks like the player we were looking for."

The Spanish international further dismissed claims that the club is willing to sell full back Dani Alves and also refused to comment on their reported chase of Sao Paulo full back Douglas.

"I've said this several times. He arrived late to the squad [after the World Cup] but he has an [great] level of fitness. Alves is at Barca, he is in the squad and there he will remain. In the future, we'll see. I will have opportunities to meet with anyone," he said.

"I don't comment on players who are not here."

Suarez’s addition will add much needed firepower to a Barcelona squad which has not done very well in recent games apart from their last outing against HJK Helsinki. The Catalans had managed to win just one match prior to their fixture against the Finnish side having drawn against French side Nice and losing to Italian outfit Napoli.

However the Catalans were on fire in their last outing and condemned HJK to a 6-0 mauling. Munir El Haddadi got on the score sheet twice and there were also goals for centre backs Piqué and Bartra as well as academy products Sandro Ramírez and Sergi Roberto.

The Barcelona side is almost at full strength with the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez also expected to take part during Monday’s match however German international Marc-André ter Stegen is still out with an injury.
