The Spanish midfielder injured his left knee during the German Super Cup game, which Bayern lost to Borussia Dortmund 2-0.

On the eve of playing the first round of the DFB Pokal against Preussen Münster, Pep Guardiola confirmed to the media he is looking to sign one more player, given the injury sustained by Javi Martinez last Wednesday.

“We are going to need another player. We have to react to Javi’s injury and we are analyzing candidates. We need to think this over properly,” the coach added during a press conference.

On the possible substitute, Guardiola described what kind of player he is looking for:

“He’s got to be tall, quick, with good aerial skills and capable of playing different positions. If we don’t have to pay a lot for his services, even better. I know it can be a little late to find a player like that, but we’ll give it a try,” coach Guardiola added.

Guardiola also confirmed Bastian Schweinsteiger is down with an injury, and he won’t be able to play for a while, which would confirm the need to strengthen his club.
