A new Premier League season kicks off on Saturday and six American players will be competing in the ‘most-watched’ league in the world.

Time to start a new season for American players in England. The Premier League kicks off on Saturday and six U.S. players are expected to see action with their current teams throughout the season.

After an amazing performance in this year’s World Cup with the USMNT, Tim Howard has his place secured in Everton’s starting lineup as they travel to the Midlands to face newly promoted club Leicester City.

Brad Guzan, Howard’s sub in the USMNT, is also expected to start against Stoke City on Saturday as he played most of Stoke’s matches during the last season.

Although he might not start, Jozy Altidore could have some minutes with Sunderland during their visit to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion. The forward will begin his second season with ‘The Black Cats’.

On Wednesday, he gave his thoughts to Newcastle’s press.

“Coming to Sunderland was a whole different, but this is where you have to adapt. It was a tough year for me last year. I struggled, everybody struggled.

“The first year was difficult but it is out of the way now. We stayed up and now it is a new start for everybody and we just have to try and affect the game every time you play.

“When the team is playing well, you are going to see individuals playing well", the forward concluded.

Stoke player Geoff Cameron might see action at the Britannia Stadium whereas Brek Shea will need to earn his place during the season as he returns from a half-season loan with Barnsley, where he only made eight appearances.

Tottenham’s Brad Friedel would stay on the bench against West Ham, as French keeper Hugo Lloris is expected to start for Spurs.
