Landon Donovan will be honored prior to the upcoming MLS match between Crew and LA Galaxy in Columbus.

As Landon Donovan’s ‘retirement tour’ continues, clubs keep recognizing his brilliant career and Columbus Crew will not be the exception. The club will be offering a pre-match ceremony at the Crew Stadium, where a special commemorative item will be given to the LA Galaxy and USMNT star.

The LA Galaxy forward expressed his gratitude towards Columbus Crew.

"It’s very respectful and it’s not necessarily my personality to want that stuff, but it still feels good. It’s nice as a human being. I’m very grateful that they’re going to do that. I just think that when teams around the World do it for their own players, it’s nice and it’s respectful."

Donovan had many memorable moments at Crew Stadium not only in the MLS but also with the U.S. National Team. He took part on three of the so-called “Dos a Cero” wins against CONCACAF rivals Mexico.

When asked about which were his most treasured memories in Crew Stadium he responded:

“For people that are too young to remember, Crew Stadium was the first soccer-specific stadium in the country. Because of that, we had a lot of opportunities to play big games there. I played with the [United States] Under-17 National Team against El Salvador to go to our World Cup, which was a huge game -- a successful game. Just off the top of my head, I remember playing Paraguay there, I remember playing Grenada there in a [FIFA World Cup] Qualifier and obviously all the games against Mexico.

Via Twitter, Crew posted a video where Landon Donovan comments on what does Columbus mean to him.
