There are still more than 15 days to go before the 2014 summer transfer window shuts down, and before you know it, Louis van Gaal might have transformed Man United into a monster.

Gone are the days of David Moyes who endured a farcical spell at Old Trafford as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor. With Louis van Gaal, the Red Devils are looking to rebuild their pride. LVG’s project looks so promising that even the lack of Champions League football in 2014/15 may not stand in the way of acquiring a trio of signatures before the end of the transfer window.

Angel di Maria, who watched Tuesday night’s entire UEFA Super Cup match between Real Madrid and Sevilla from the bench, could be wearing red very soon. According to reports, Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward was in Cardiff on Tuesday for talks concerning a speculated move for the Real Madrid winger. A few days ago, PSG cancelled their hunt for Di Maria, calling him “too expensive”. Man United may have to offer as much as £50M to snatch the Argentine star away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Also on Louis van Gaal’s transfer radar is Sporting Lisbon’s Marcos Rojos. The Red Devils are looking to boost their defensive line following the departures of Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra. Rojos refused to train with the Portuguese outfit on Tuesday as he has asked to join Manchester United as soon as possible. However, Sporting Lisbon are demanding much more than the £9.5M Southampton offered. The Portuguese capital based club will only let Marco Rojos leave for Old Trafford for around £18M.

Manchester United’s mega transfer shopping could be complete with £15M rated Ajax defender Daley Blind who netted a goal in the Netherlands’ 3-0 hammering of Brazil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, en route to bronze.

If the Red Devils manage to acquire a winger in the form of Angel di Maria and two defenders (Rojos and Blind), expect them to stage a real fight in the race for the 2014/15 English Premier League title and other domestic competitions while they wait to return to Europe.
