The LA club re-acquires the 32-year-old player from San Jose Earthquakes under the allocation money scheme.

In order to strengthen their offensive line roster for the rest of the season the LA Galaxy re-acquire Alan Gordon from San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money. Gordon already had a spell with Galaxy a few years back when he was loaned from Portland Timbers in 2004 and then officially signed in 2005. After spending 5 years with Galaxy he moved to Chivas USA in 2010 and then to Toronto FC in 2011 before joining San Jose during the same year. With the Earthquakes he netted in 23 goals in 3 MLS seasons.

Bruce Arena, LA Galaxy head coach, commented on Gordon’s arrival:

“Alan is a proven MLS player who adds another scoring threat to our roster going forward. We are pleased to welcome him back as a member of the Galaxy”.

Gordon is expected to have a tough competition to earn a place in Galaxy’s starting 11 featuring players like Gyasi Zardes, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane. He might instead have a similar role as he had in San Jose being used as a power sub. Alan Gordon has scored a total of 39 goals in the MLS during his career.

San Jose Earthquakes general manager John Doyle expressed his gratitude towards Gordon stating the following:

"We would like to thank Alan for everything he has done for this club. Alan has produced many great moments during his years with the Earthquakes. We wish him well going forward."
