The midfielder was in talks to join Stuttgart, but the amount offered by the German team was billed “ridiculous” by Chivas’ owner, Jorge Vergara.

After a dubious start in the Apertura tournament, Cruz Azul have something to smile about. One of their top performing players last season, Marco Fabian, has closed the book on his possible transfer to European football, hoping a title with “La Máquina” and a good run in the FIFA Club World Cup will boost his chances of playing abroad.

Fabian, on loan from Chivas, had an offer to join Stuttgart, but the German club was not willing to pay a big amount of money for the former Olympian, according to Jorge Vergara, owner of Chivas and the player’s rights.

Facing this scenario, Fabian has reset his focus on winning a championship with Cruz Azul:

“Right now, I have to end speculations. There’s no way I’m leaving with the options I had, specially with Stuttgart. I have to focus on giving Cruz Azul a league championship and having a great Club World Cup. I’m still young and I can make my dreams come true, but first thing’s first,”, he told the press.

“I have to thank everyone that tried to get me there. Everyone got into this with the best intentions, but things didn’t work out. Let’s hope later we can make it happen”, Fabian concluded.
