The Mexican is key to Jagoba Arrasate's team, after the departure of Griezmann and Bravo.

Mexican forward Carlos Vela is set to miss the Chelsea – Real Sociedad friendly on Tuesday, given he has not been able to recover from an injury to his left foot. The “Bombardier” already missed the Europa League qualyfing match against Aberdeen, and will try to recover before their next international game against FC Krasnodar.

Real Sociedad managed to beat Aberdeen last Wednesday in the Europa League qualifying match, and lost 1-0 against Newcastle United in their last preseason match on Sunday.

Last year, Vela had an amazing performance, scoring 21 goals, including a four goal performance against Celta de Vigo on November 23th. The Mexican was pretended by Atletico Madrid and other top clubs, but Real Sociedad managed to pay 11 million euros to Arsenal, owner of the player's rights. This transaction is the highest ever for the Spanish team.  Vela has proven a real asset for the San Sebastian squad, and will have to carry them on his shoulders after the departures of Claudio Bravo and his friend Antoine Griezmann.

Last week, Mexico’s coach Miguel Herrera told newspapers he will have a chat with Vela, in order to know if he is available to play for the National Team, given his absence due to personal reasons for the last year.
