Who are the 2014-15 Ligue 1 season promoted teams?

After a six-year absence, Metz became the first side to make the jump from Ligue 2 to French football's top flight by defeating Auxerre 3-0. Les Grenats were followed by Lens, who had spent three years in the second division by recording their own win--2 to nil--against CA Bastia. And, finally the trio was completed by Caen after successfully drawing 2-2 to Dijon and make their return after two years.

On the flip side, these three new arrivals saw three others suffer the drop, with the unlucky trio being Sochaux, Ajaccio, and Valenciennes.

In summary, here are the changes for the 2014-2015 Ligue 1 campaign:

-Promoted: Caen, Metz, Lens

-Relegated: Sochaux, Ajaccio, Valenciennes

Who will play in the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League?

Currently, the French Ligue 1 is only given a total of three Champions League spots--as opposed to the Premier League, Bundesliga, and La Liga, who, due to their higher coefficient rankings get four. In France, two are automatic, whereas the third one has to battle it out through qualifiers to earn a spot among the 32 sides hoping to make it to the UCL final.

This season, France's representatives are PSG, who again secured their automatic berth after successfully defending their league crown. Les Parisiens are joined by Monaco, who had an impressive season in their return to Ligue 1. The two cash-rich sides could also be joined by Lille provided that they can successfully navigate their way through the Champions League qualifying rounds.

1.    PSG – 89 points

2.    Monaco – 80 points

3.    Lille – 71 points

Who will play in the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League?

Moving on to Europe's second-tier continental competition, France again will have three entrants. Two of these have to contend with play-off rounds: Saint-Etienne and Lyon, who finished fourth and fifth place last season. In fact, the team that has automatically gained entry is a squad that didn't even finish in the top 10 last season: Guingamp!

They finished 16th and were just two points away from relegated Sochaux but Guingamp will be making their third Europa League appearance thanks to winning the Coupe de France after a 2-0 win over Stade Rennais.

Who were last season’s domestic cup winners?

With stars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who again finished as the French Ligue 1 top scorer, Edinson Cavani, Thiago Silva, and others, PSG had no problem cruising to another league title--the first time they have achieved back-to-back titles. Les Parisiens also triumphed in the Coupe de la Ligue, but perhaps the biggest surprise of all was Guingamp, who barely escaped relegation yet managed to come out on top in the Coupe de France.

Coupe de France champions: Guingamp– From Guingamp, France.

Coupe de la Ligue championsPSG – From Ile-de-France, France.

French Ligue 1 champions: PSG – From Ile-de-France, France.

What are the biggest managerial changes?

So far this summer, there have been a slew of changes on the tactician's bench. The most notable of these is Monaco sacking Claudio Ranieri--known to Premier League and Serie A fans for his tenures with Chelsea, Roma, Juventus, Parma and Napoli among others--in favor of Leonardo Jardim.

Also, Lyon's Remi Garde made way for Hubert Fournier and Marseille's Jose Anigo resigned with Marcelo Bielsa taking his place.
