Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool will clash at the Sun Life Stadium in an International Champions Cup final on Monday, the 4th of August.

Football fans could not have asked for a better showdown as the International Champions Cup approaches its conclusion. The tournament which featured some of the biggest teams from the continent is poised to have an English winner after arch rivals Man United and Liverpool made it to the final.

Both teams are currently experiencing a revamp and a victory in the preseason tournament will surely give them the confidence to do better in the upcoming season. Liverpool despite of finishing last season on a strong note and guaranteeing themselves a place in the Champions League lost their talismanic forward Luis Suarez to Barcelona. The Reds had hugely relied on their Uruguayan star for goals last season and his absence will definitely be felt.

Fortunately for the Reds the former Ajax man was sold for a club record fee which means that Brendan Rodgers does have the resources to rebuild his team and launch a title assault next season. Man United on the other hand were abysmal last season and ended the campaign as the seventh best team in England which is quite disappointing compared to their lofty standards.

However under the tutelage of new manager Van Gaal the Red Devils have done very well and have so far managed to win all their preseason games. A win on Monday will definitely boost the morale in the United camp who after a horrid campaign last season will be hoping to achieve bigger things next season.

Despite the fact that the word ‘friendly’ has been tagged with the match, when the two teams enter the Sun Life Stadium one can expect a feisty encounter. Both the teams have rivaled one another for domestic honors from time to time and even though a preseason trophy might not hold much significance, both sides will be hoping to get the better of the other.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has stressed just how big Monday’s match is and has claimed that a victory for his side will strengthen their belief of achieving bigger things next season.

"Liverpool against Manchester United is about more than football, it’s about two cities which aren't far apart, and who have historically always been rivals," Rodgers said.

"It is arguably the biggest game in the world and for it to be here in the US, it's great viewing for them and magnificent news for the organisers.”

"The most important thing is obviously about getting the players fit for the start of the season, but even winning in pre-season creates that belief and mentality, and so it's very important."
