Man City and Olympiakos will go head to head at the TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday, the 2nd of August in an International Champions Cup encounter.

Saturday’s fixture will be see the champions of England and Greece go against one another. Man City clinched the title at the expense of Liverpool whereas Olympiakos won the Greek championship for the fourth time in a row. After giving Italian side AC Milan a 3-0 thumping in their opening ICC fixture, the Τhrylos lost 1-0 to Liverpool as youngster Raheem Sterling scored the only goal of the match.

City on the other hand faced title rivals Liverpool in their last outing. The match finished 2-2 in normal time and was ultimately settled on penalties as the match ended in Liverpool’s favor. All four goals were scored in the second half as Jovetic began the proceedings capitalizing on a Steven Gerrard error. Liverpool replied six minutes later through Henderson's but Jovetic restored Man City’s lead with a fine effort in the 67th minute. However Sterling’s late strike ensured that the match finished 2-2 in normal time, with Liverpool successfully converting three penalties compared to City’s one to effectively win the tie.

Man City’s Chilean tactician remained upbeat despite the defeat and praised Montenegrin international Jovetic for another fine outing. The 24 year old scored a brace for the second consecutive match and Pellegrini has insisted that he will prove to be of great importance in the upcoming season.

"I have said before that Stevan is a very important player for us and he proved again what an asset he can be," Pellegrini said.

"He had a number of different injuries last season but now he is fully fit. I'm sure if he continues in this way he will show why he is here. If he's fit all the year he will be a very important player for us."

The former Real Madrid boss also expressed satisfaction with his side’s preparation for the new season and insisted that his players will be fully fit in time as we draw near to what promises to an exciting Barclays Premier League campaign.

"I'm very happy because it was a good, competitive game and useful for both teams," he said.

"We played well for the first 45 minutes when 0-0 didn't reflect exactly what happened.

"Liverpool are a very good team, played very well. Last season they had a strong campaign and I’m sure that this year they will be fighting for the title again."

"We are trying to prepare our team the best way possible and I feel we have had a very good pre-season.

"We had another five players playing game time today and the rest of the squad arrive next week."

"Overall I'm very happy with our preparations."

"The five players who arrived on Thursday will be ready for the Premier League and the rest of the players will arrive next Monday. They can be fit in maybe 15 days but we will assess things as we go along."
