It will be the first appearance for the Ligue 1 runners' up in the Emirates Cup, which also features Valencia, Benfica, and Arsenal.

Monaco will further attempt to push their way into one of the more recognized sides in Europe when they make their debut appearance in the Emirates Cup. The summer tournament, of course, features Arsenal, as well as this time Portuguese powerhouse Benfica and La Liga's Valencia, who had a poor run in their domestic campaign last season.

The ambitious side, which is now bankrolled by a Russian billionaire were playing in Ligue 2 during the 2012-2013 season and earned themselves a spot in French football's top flight after securing promotion. However, despite splashing the cash on Porto duo Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez, it was not enough to knock PSG off their perch as Ligue 1's best side.

And now, just a season later, they have already parted ways with one half of their Colombian star duo as Rodriguez has moved on to Real Madrid. Nonetheless, they have fared well so far in their pre-season matches and will be hoping to continue that same run of form against another European opponent.

While Valencia had one of their worst seasons to date during their previous campaign, they still will hope to make amends for that diasterous season by faring well in their opening clash with what could present a potentially tricky opponent for them.
