After signing Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from the Rojiblancos, the Blues look to strip the Liga BBVA champions of another one of their top performers from last season

La Liga side Atletico Madrid have seen their Liga BBVA-winning squad of last season nearly torn apart.

Key players such as Thibaut Courtois, top-scorer Diego Costa, and Brazilian defender Filipe Luis all departed from the Vicente Calderon in favor of Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.

And, although Los Rojiblancos have made quality acquisitions, with Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic and French winger Antoine Griezmann being the top two, Diego Simeone has lost an integral part of his impressive 2013-14 back four.

Now, according to Spanish outlet MARCA, the Blues are to go shopping in Atletico Madrid's backyard once more, as the English Premier League side prepare a €25m move for Brazilian center-back Miranda.

The 29-year-old defender, who joined Atletico Madrid back in 2011, a player that "doesn't see his future as a 'Rojiblanco' all that clear", was previously chased by European heavyweights Manchester United and Barcelona.

However, the two sides were both put off by the player's hefty release-clause, which currently stands at €30, though the defender tried to push for an exit.

The 2012 Champions League winners have already seen the departure of former Benfica man David Luiz for £50m to Ligue 1 mega-rich side Paris Saint-Germain, and could use some healthy competition for the current defensive partnership of John Terry and Gary Cahill.

As a result, Jose Mourinho wishes to reunite Miranda with former team-mate Filipe Luis, who was signed for £16m from La Liga champions, a player who the Selecao defender shares an agent with, Jose Mendes.
