The Rossoneri start their US pre-season tour under new boss Pippo Inzaghi by taking on Greek side Olympiakos

Milan fans will be hoping that last season will soon become a distant memory as the Rossoneri look to get back on track under new coach Pippo Inzaghi.

They barely scraped into a top half finish, meaning that they won't be featuring in European competiton next season, but if teams like Roma and Liverpool are any example, this does not necessarily mean that they won't be able to redeem themselves with a good domestic performance this season.

However, first up on their task is the International Champions Cup, a competition in which they can really get things going and help Inzaghi figure out how his present squad will fare against some of Europe's better teams. This evening they will face off against Greek side Olympiakos and despite their opponents having won their domestic league, they have been poor in their pre-season friendlies so far to date.

Meanwhile, the Diavolo have won their last two pre-season matches, albeit against less difficult opponents--lower division sides Monza and Renate-- but fans are hoping that the former striker, who also as of recently was the Primavera coach will continue to exert a positive influence over the squad as they start off the first of their four USA matches.

Additionally, he will have some more experienced players at his disposal, with World Cup trio Mario Balotelli, Keisuke Honda, and Sulley Muntari all linking up with the team after their respective holidays, and young attacker Stephan El Shaarawy, who spent the majority of last season out due to injury is fit and raring to go in a quest to also impress his new boss.

All in all, things do look highly in Milan's favor, but Olympiakos should obviously not be discounted. Many of this summer's pre-season matches have been full of surprises and one should keep in mind that they are the most successful club in their nation's football history.
