The Blues have acquired the Brazilian defender from Los Rojiblancos on a three-year deal.

Chelsea, who have been quite active in this summer's transfer market, have now acquired a new defender.

The Blues have already purchased a new midfielder in the form of Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas and an attacker in Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa.

And now, Jose Mourinho's side have added another Atleti player to the mix--Brazilian defender Filipe Luis, with the 28-year-old signing a three year contract with the Premier League giants.

Reports claim that the deal will cost them £20 million and his acquisition is as a like-for-like replacement for Ashley Cole, who will now ply his trade in Serie A with Roma.

Following the confirmation, the player was quick to express his joy at making the switch from Spain to England.

"This move is a dream come true for me...I now have the opportunity to play for Chelsea, and also in the Premier League," he stated via the club's official webpage.

"I’m very happy and looking forward to getting started and giving my best for the team during the coming seasons."
