Alexis Sanchez has reportedly passed his medical at Arsenal, according to Sky Sports. The news broke on Thursday afternoon.

Adding fuel to the rumours, former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon tweeted:

"Just spoke to Arsene. He's very happy about Sanchez and  Debuchy."

According to the BBC, Arsenal and Barcelona have reached a deal in principle worth close to £32.5M for the Chilean striker who was seduced by manager Arsene Wenger with whom he had transfer talks during the World Cup in Brazil.

The 25-year-old was also chased by Italian giants Juventus and 2013/14 English Premier League runners-up Liverpool but it is understood that he chose a move to the Emirates as the Gunners aim to build on their 2014 FA Cup triumph.

In other transfer news from the English Premier League, QPR have tied down goalkeeper Robert Green for another two years. Liverpool transfer target Lazar Markovic, meanwhile, may only pass his medical on Friday or Saturday instead of Thursday, due to 'logistical issues' delaying the process.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are closing in on a £20M transfer for Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis as a replacement for fellow Brazilian David Luiz who signed for French giants PSG earlier this summer.
