The Black Stars' aces Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari have been suspended from the national side, effective immediately

Ghana's hopes of making the World Cup round of 16 have taken a twist.

The Black Stars' camp has released news that Schalke 04 and AC Milan stars Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari have been suspended from the national team indefinitely, effective immediately.

The duo were part of the Ghana side that put in an impressive display in their team's well-deserved 2-2 draw with European giants Germany.

An official statement on the Ghana FA’s official website read: “The decision was taken following Boateng’s vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team’s training session in Maceio this week.”

“Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision.”

Muntari, who was already set to miss the Portugal encounter with two consecutive bookings, was suspended due to an “unprovoked physical attack on an Executive Committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr. Moses Armah on Tuesday 24th June, 2014 during a meeting.”

According to Citi Sports, the two had been involved in a fight during training with reports suggesting Boateng insulted team coach Akwasi Appiah.

In an interview with German tabloid BILD (per 101 Great Goals), the former Rossoneri midfielder denied any altercation, saying:

“Muntari and I were just joking around and the coach stopped the session and sent us back to the changing room.”

“Afterwards I went and asked what he had against me and he started yelling. He insulted me. There were words like: ‘F**k off’.”

No-one should think I insulted the coach. I’m travelling now, and wish my colleagues all the best for the match against Portugal.

This is just yet another controversy for the Black Stars as news broke out that $3m was flown to the Ghana camp in order the thwart a rebellion amongst the players, with this scandalous image of John Boye kissing his share of the profit emerging.
