It happened about 10 minutes from normal time. Italy were a man down due to Marchisio's harsh sending off in the 59th minute. At 0-0, the Azzurri were through but something strange happened. Luis Suarez's bite on Chiellini's left shoulder stunned the Italian team and perhaps distracted them too. A minute later, Diego Godin netted the only goal of the match to send La Celeste Olimpica into the Round of 16 with 6 points in Group D. Game over for Italy in Brazil!
Obviously, controversy is the main point in the Azzurri's group stages exit with Suarez's bite stealing the show. At this rate, Luis Suarez has made a new name for himself: he is a "Serial Biter", the only serial biter in world football. The Liverpool and Uruguayan striker has done this not once or twice, but thrice!
First, it was PSV's Otman Bakkal in 2010:
Then it was Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in 2013:
But despite all the bashing he has received in the media for his "dog-like" antics, Luis Suarez just can't get enough. His hunger to win is so intense that it reflects in his behaviour. And if anyone doubts that Luis Suarez indeed did such a disgusting act, the proof is on Giorgio Chiellini's left shoulder:
Lucky Suarez! Chiellini couldn't convince the referee of what had happened.

Is it time for FIFA to use video replays to call fouls and hand out cards?
FIFA use goal line technology, but don't use video replays when someone gets bitten by a player. Use it: always, or never. Double standards.

Dogs bite, not humans. And what Luis Suárez just did is something unhuman and not part of human nature. Shameful act. I have no words.

USWNT star Sydney Leroux's great analysis: "If you can't beat them, EAT them!"

And to answer Luis Suarez's previous moans about the English press giving him a bad image:
Suarez teeth out again - that'll be the fault of English media, obviously
