Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was full of praise for their 22-year-old star after leading the Selecao to a 4-1 triumph over Cameroon

Brazil secured their path to the 2014 World Cup round of 16 stage, beating Cameroon 4-1 on Monday to finish their group in top spot with seven points.

The host nation put in a performance worthy of a world-class team as they dominated their African opponents from start to finish.

And afterwards, the Selecao coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was quick to praise one player after Brazil's outstanding display; Barcelona ace Neymar.

The former Santos star scored a brace past the Indomitable Lions, taking his goalscoring tally in the tournament to four, getting ahead of all others in the Golden Boot race.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring for his side in the 17th minute before gifting Brazil the lead with a second goal in the 35th minute after Cameroon equalized.

At a post-match press conference for the Confederation Cup champions' last group stage match, Scolari said: "Brazil depend on Neymar like Argentina depend on Messi."

"They are players who are different and can make the difference for their respective teams. Neymar is a point of reference to Brazil, like Messi is to Argentina."

The five-time World Cup winners set up a date with fellow South American side Chile in the next stage. However, the Brazil boss refuses to underestimate Jorge Sampaoli's side, saying they could prove tough to conquer.

"Many thought that Chile wouldn't make it out of their group, but I'm not surprised. They have a lot of quality.

"If I had had the chance to choose an opponent I would have picked another team. I would have preferred not to meet Chile.”

"It is always difficult to play against South American opposition. Chile have a lot of individual quality and are very well organized."
