Miguel Herrera responds to Niko Kovac's claims that he has the recipe to lead Croatia to victory over Mexico

Miguel Herrera has shrugged off the idea that Croatia coach Niko Kovac has a plan to triumph over the Mexican national team.

The respective managers' sides meet on Monday to face off for a group A qualifying berth as both teams aim at making the round of 16.

Mexico currently sit at second spot with four points, behind Brazil on goal difference, and need only a point from today's match to send them to the next round.

However, the Vatreni boss Niko Kovac, who's side lingers a point behind Herrera's team, needs to secure all three point for his men in order to avoid a group stage exit, claiming he has the recipe to send Mexico packing

But now, the El Tri manager jokingly responded to those comments, saying: "Only if he is a cook will he have the recipe."

"We can say 20,000 things but what matters is what we do on the field. We have proven our determination and attitude," Herrera said ahead of the clash in Recife.

"These are two teams that will play at their best. We are going to run and play hard."

The 46-year-old former defender argues the huge fan base in Brazil is what will make the difference as he feels it will motivate his men.

“We are motivated about being the home team, we will hear the support of Mexico and we will do our best on the field,” he said.
