Cameroon lacked creativity upfront in their opening match against Mexico. Despite El Tri’s two wrongly disallowed goals, the Indomitable Lions still went on to lose 1-0. A wrong start for Samuel Eto’o’s country followed with a total collapse against Mario Mandzukic’s ambitious Croatia.
There is nothing more left to gain at this World Cup but pride for Cameroon. However, as if losing their first two encounters wasn’t difficult enough to take, they face the prospect of going home with absolutely no point. Their chances of grabbing a point from the game against Brazil are extremely slim.
The camp is destabilized following Alex Song’s mad sending off and Assou-Ekotto’s disgraceful clash with his own team mate, Moukandjo. In contrast, the Brazilians are determined to open the flood gates after being held to an astonishing goalless draw against Memo Ochoa’s resilient Mexicans.
This could be a painful match to watch for African fans worldwide. Meanwhile, supporters of the World Cup hosts are anticipating a goal fest. Indeed, Neymar has two goals in the tournament so far and he is and he is behind Karim Benzema, Thomas Mueller, Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben and Enner Valencia in the the Golden Boot race.
More importantly though, Brazil want to seal their spot in the next round. At the moment, they have four points like Mexico and Croatia in Group A.
