Luis Suarez has upset many football fans back in England.
The Liverpool striker, who made his first 2014 World Cup appearance after sitting out Uruguay's 3-1 opening game loss to Costa Rica, entered his nation's starting eleven in their Three Lions clash.
English Premier League Golden Boot winner's return to fitness proved devastating for Roy Hodgson's side as the South American forward gunned down the 1966 World Cup champions with a brace, scoring on opposite sides of the pitch during Thursday's encounter.
Accompanied with Costa Rica's 1-0 win over Italy, England were sent packing early on in the competition, bowing out in the group stages.
However, these heroics from Suarez hasn't impressed former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand who took to Twitter to criticize the 27-year-old.
When asked if the 2014 PFA Player of the Year was on the same level as La Liga stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the 35-year-old ex-Red Devils' center-back responded with “level below.”

However, not everyone was impressed with the Uruguayan
"@darren_real_lad: Rio,people are overating suarez's performance, do you think he's in the same class as messi and ronaldo?" > level below

Whether this comment will get to La Celeste's all-time leading scorer may appear highly unlikely as Luis revealed Hodgson's claims that Suarez is not world-class inspired his Man of the Match performance.
“It wasn’t revenge, but in England they talked about the injury and the coach had words that annoyed [me],” said Suarez.
Will Ferdinand's negative comment inspire Suarez to another electrifying performance vs Italy as Hodgson's remarks did vs England?
