Italy’s loss to Costa Rica for 1-0 condemned England to an embarrassingly early exit from the 2014 World Cup. The English were hanging by a thread, and the Italians could not save them from elimination.
Despite playing well, Hodgson's team will leave the World Cup early
The players commented the elimination, with some standing by Roy Hodgson, and others visibly annoyed with the result. England has still zero points and has yet to win a game in the tournament.
Gutted doesn't come close to how I am feeling right now, Sorry to all the fans who came out and supported us, and everyone back home!

England’s goalkeeper, Joe Hart, had positive remarks with regards to Hodgson’s work. Manchester City’s number one stated:
“Me, personally, and I think I speak for all the players, we are proud to play for Roy Hodgson. He’s a great manager, he’s a very passionate man and someone that I have got an awful lot of respect for and I hope to continue playing for."
At least we can just enjoy some cracking football now and stop getting all uptight about England being pony....

Gary Cahill’s comments were less positive. Chelsea’s defender revealed:
“A few weeks ago it was one of the highlights of my career and a couple of weeks down the line it’s one of the lowest points. It’s the worst feeling I’ve had as a player. There’s nothing more I can say. It’s very tough to take, football can be cruel sometimes.”
Prandelli apologized to England for not being able to beat Costa Rica
England’s last game will be against Costa Rica, but it will not be anything more than a friendly, with Costa Rica already qualified and the English squad already out of the competition.
