The Germans were definitely impressive against Portugal; however, they will be asked one or two more questions by Ghana in their second match in Group G.

When Germany played Ghana in the World Cup in 2010, the scenario was completely different. Serbia had beaten Germany in the second round of group games; Ghana was the leader going into the final day. The game was not particularly exciting, especially in the absence of the suspended Miroslav Klose. Neither team seemed ready to break the deadlock.

And then, Mesut Özil struck. The game changed. Germany qualified as the top team from their group.

The match, while boring itself was historical; it was the first time in which two brothers played against each other in international football. Brothers Kevin Prince Boateng (Ghana) and Jerome Boateng (Germany) lined up against each other in that match. They are set to do so again.

Germany went on to light up the tournament until Spain came in their way. Expectations had been low prior to that tournament. Expectations were not high prior to the beginning of this campaign either. An opening day win over Portugal however has changed the picture. Germany did not play exceptionally well in that match; they did not have to. They easily disposed of Portugal through very good counterattacks. Whenever Germany went forward, they looked dangerous.

If Portugal tested the back four more, they might have found more answers as four central defenders played together; the full backs used in that match are center backs by trade. In this match, this might change because Mats Hummels might not make it back in time due to an injury suffered against the Portuguese. The youngster, Skhodran Mustafi, who is a rare example of a young German international not plying his trade in the Bundesliga, might fill in.

Mustafi however is a rightback. This means that Boateng would have to go back to the heart of defense next to Per Mertesacker. Otherwise, no other change is anticipated. Bastian Schweinsteiger was left out in the first match. Whether Philipp Lahm will be able to hold the fort down along with Sami Khedira and Toni Kroos in midfield is questionable; the Ghanaians will be physically stronger than Portugal. Schweinsteiger might be needed in this one.

Ghana is strong enough to earn a surprise win in this match. They controlled the proceedings against USA but were caught out naively at the back twice. Their problems in the final third were obvious as they only managed to break down USA's two lines of four in front of goal just once. They resorted to taking shots from outside the box. Rarely did those shots trouble their opposition.

Can Ghana reverse their fortunes this time and beat Germany? Or will Germany produce another wonderful performance in this World Cup?
