Ghanian midfielder, Sulley Muntari, recently renewed his contract with AC Milan for an additional 2 years, until 2016.

Sulley Muntari renewed his contract with AC Milan for an additional 2 years. The Rossoneri secured the midfielder’s services until 2016, with the hope that the coming seasons will be more successful than the last one.

The Ghanaian, joined Milanello from city rivals Inter back in 2012. The first season, the 29-year-old remained out for most of the season. However, this last season Muntari could play at full potential in what was one of AC Milan’s worst seasons.

Muntari has yet to play at full potential for AC Milan

The African does not have the pedigree required to play on the 2006/07 Milan, but is considered to be a good enough player for the transitory period the northern team is currently in. In fact, uncertainties at the managerial level risk to jeopardize Galliani’s role as inexperienced Barbara Berlusconi attempts a complete overhaul of her father’s team.

Muntari’s choice to extend his stay at Milanello was a forced one due to the lack of offers for the player. The Ghanaian is not very marketable, because he has a very high salary but lacks the quality to play in the top clubs that could afford him. However, the African midfielder proved to be extremely versatile and useful for Milan and especially when Internazionale managed to win the Champions League. An official statement on the team’s website read:

"AC Milan announces that Sulley Muntari has renewed his contract to June 30, 2016."
