The Black Stars open their World Cup campaign against the Stars and Stripes in Group G's second clash of the day

Today, football fans had their plates full with Germany taking on Portugal, Nigeria facing off against Iran, and finally, Ghana battling it out with the United States in the last fixture of the day.

The Black Stars will remember their 2010 World Cup exit with some bitterness, as they were painfully close to becoming the first African side to reach the semi-finals only to be denied by Uruguay. And now, in what many have described as the hardest group at this year's tournament, they will be keen to grab all three points against a side that they have successfully defeated two times prior.

As for the Stars and Stripes, they will be feeling the pressure as many pundits have labeled them as the weakest side in their quartet. Jurgen Klinsmann's men will be facing a team that they have lost to twice, and will obviously do everything they can to prevent Kwesi Appiah's men from making it three out of three.

Here are the starting XI's for each squad:

Ghana: Kwarasey, Opare, Mensah, Boye, Asamoah, A.Ayew, Rabiu, Muntari, Atsu, J.Ayew, Gyan

USMNT: Howard, Johnson, Cameron, Besler, Beasley, Beckerman, Jones, Bradley, Bedoya, Dempsey, Altidore
