Spaniard Cesc Fabregas has revealed more details behind his Chelsea switch and why he didn't return to former club Arsenal

Shock grasped the whole world, Arsenal fans in particular, as former Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas completed his move to English Premier League giants Chelsea.

After failing to cement his place among the Blaugrana ranks after three seasons with the Liga BBVA heavyweights, becoming a scapegoat for the Catalan side's disappointing 2013-14 season, the two parties decided to part ways as Barcelona cashed in on the 27-year-old star.

And with La Roja midfielder's love affair with his former North London club widely known, many expected a return to the Emirates Stadium for Fabregas. However, a transfer never materialized as Wenger failed to exercise the buy-back clause inserted the Spaniard's contract, paving the way for a Stamford Bridge move for Fabregas.

But now, Chelsea's £30million signing reveals that he and "Le Prof" actually did talk about a possible reunion but claims Wenger confessed that he had the former Arsenal skipper's position covered in the form of German playmaker, Mesut Ozil.

"We talked with Wenger but he said that he would find it difficult to make a place for me on the pitch as Ozil had my position covered," Fabregas said at a news conference.

“There were some very good options and I chose between the best two or three.”

“I spoke with Jose Mourinho and he said what I wanted to hear and things went very quickly from there.”

But the Spaniard professed: "This is not the right moment to talk about this, though, as we need to be focused on the national team and the World Cup."
