Fingers are being pointed at Bayern by the French for Franck Ribery's absence from the World Cup.

Bayern's treatment team is considered one of the best in football. The players receive the best treatment possible from Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt. However, the doctor's treatments are slightly controversial to say the least, especially because of his use of the substance Actovegin in his injections, which is banned by the FDA in USA. Franck Ribery has been treated by him on a regular basis since mid 2007 of course.

The French feel Ribery would have prepared for the World Cup had Bayern not played him in the DFB Pokal Final as a substitute. Ribery had remained away from the pitch following Bayern's 4-0 demolition at the hands of Real Madrid. He was needed in the Pokal final by the club. The French doctor, Franck Le Gall, clearly expressed that he did not find a way to ease Ribery's discomforts. He also alluded to the Bayern club doctor's controversial injections in his comments.

This is what he had to say according to abc News:

"When I examined him and we did tests with the X-ray and scans, I was very reassured. There was no reason why he wouldn't play in the World Cup. We have some explanations for his pain. However, he didn't find a way ... we didn't find the way for his pains to cease or for him to play through his discomfort."

"Franck belongs to a club where for all pathological treatments — twisted ankles, bruising, muscle pains, contractions, tears — there are injections. There are 10 per pathology (injury), or 20, 25, 40 per year, or more. So there comes a time when, well ... he (Ribery) has had enough of injections. If for a moment we thought it could be solved that way, we didn't do it, because he's scared of injections."
