According to Stuart Pearce, loss of fitness, form and confidence means Jack Wilshere will not feature in Brazil.

Stuart Pearce, the former manager of England U-21 and the future manager of Nottingham Forest, believes one of England's most talented midfielders, Jack Wilshere, will not feature in Brazil for England. He believes there are other midfielders who will be chosen instead of him such as Frank Lampard, Adam Lallana and Ross Barkley. Pearce also feels Wilshere is not at his best at the moment. This is what Pearce had to say to talkSPORT according to the Daily Mail:

"I think he [Wilshere] is very, very short of form. Watching the last game [against Honduras] I didn’t see a Wilshere that sprung on the scene many months ago.

I just think he is very, very short of confidence and I see Lampard, Lallana or Barkley ahead of him now. I just feel his lack of form really [will cost him] and that will be on Roy’s mind."

Pearce believes there are five players who will not see any action in Brazil; this group includes Wilshere as well as the two back up goalkeepers in Ben Foster and Fraser Forster, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling. According to the Daily Mail, Pearce also feels the likes of Shaw and Barkley should not have been called up as their minutes on the pitches are likely to be limited; they should have been allowed to play more minutes in the national sides of their own age group.
