Just in time for the soccer (aka football) frenzy that is the FIFA World Cup, SHOWTIME presents DAVID BECKHAM INTO THE UNKNOWN.

This 90-minute documentary special chronicles global superstar athlete David Beckham and his friends' unforgettable journey deep into the heart of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.

After an illustrious 22-year career, the former soccer star is now retired and able to step away from his hectic life and experience this latest adventure as he contemplates what’s next.

Beckham flies 5,000 miles to Manaus in the heart of the rainforest.  From there, he and his friends Derek White and Dave Gardner travel by motorbike and boat, guided by locals as they visit the tiny community of Angelin, cross the river Negro to the banks of the Cuieras River and travel deeper into the rainforest to meet the remote Yanomami tribe.

World-renowned filmmaker Anthony Mandler captures the exploits of Beckham and his friends in DAVID BECKHAM INTO THE UNKNOWN, which will air on Friday, June 13th at 9 p.m. on SHOWTIME.  The documentary is a DBrazil TV Ltd production for the BBC and is distributed by BBC Worldwide.
