The Three Lions welcome their foes Croatia at the Wembley Stadium where the atmosphere promises to be delightful from an English point of view.
With Ukraine seating in third place and three points behind Croatia with a game in hand, the pressure will be on Slaven Bilic’s side to beat England.
Speaking ahead of this crucial match for his country, the coach stated in regards to the England national team:
"They are a very different team. They have some advantages but they are also missing something from their game. They are missing some Englishness, some of the things that have always made England teams difficult to defend against and play against.
"All I will say is that they are definitely missing something and we know what it is. But of course I am not going to tell you, now, what it is. It is our secret.''
Unfortunately for Bilic, he will be missing the services of Lucas Modric (injured) and of Vedran Corluka (suspended).
It is clear that the Croatians will play against England for revenge after being thrashed at home in the first leg of this match.
Now as the qualification campaign comes to a close in Europe, the pressure is very much there to deliver. For Croatia, holding on to the second place is a must.
Meanwhile, despite having a foot in South Africa, England intend to clinch nothing else than a victory on Wednesday. Speaking to the press, Liverpool’s captain Steven Gerrard stated:
"Croatia will be a big test and we have got a lot of respect for them, especially after the last time they performed at Wembley.
“But I think the players are still hurting from that result and performance and we need to use that to motivate us to try and get the win on Wednesday.
England will be looking forward to containing Arsenal’s Eduardo; the Brazilian-born striker has recently come under intense criticism following the ‘diving issue’ during the Gunner’s European game against Celtic.
Manchester City’s Barry pointed Eduardo as the man who could spark up danger at Wembley on Wednesday. He told ESPN Soccernet:
"He will know that there might be a bit of a backlash at him on Wednesday night but he is a top class player,"
"He will be looking to prove people wrong. Hopefully it won't backfire on us."
