Fiorentina vs Genoa Match Preview
Last week's victory against Napoli gave an opportunity for the Violas to join the fight for the European qualification once again. Cesare Prandelli and his players were desperate for a victory, as the elimination from the Champions League was a fatal strike, especially as the Violas have not been responding very well to their weekly Serie A challenge. Alberto Gilardino was the man that brought the victory to the Fiore, and team's top striker is clearly the key to unlock a place within next year's European competitions. This week they'll be facing another rival for the glory, and upon a victory the Europa League might stand just one point away. Shall they be able to conquest a victory home, they might be able to reach Milan's game in April with the upper hand.
During the first 30 minutes of last week's game, Genoa appeared to be a harmless opponent for Cagliari, but in nine minutes the Grifoni scored 4 goals, dooming their opponent to an almost Sisyphean task to return home with a victory and showing they're ready to fight on the upper levels. Standing at the 7th position, only a victory could secure their place for the Europa League, and even feed their dreams of joining the Champion's League fight. Watch out for Rodrigo Palacio, as last week he showed his delightful style might be what Gian Piero Gasperini is in need to lead it's offensive.
