Deportivo La Coruña vs Getafe Match Preview
Getafe will face Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor stadium on Sunday with the aim of bouncing back from their 4-2 defeat in the hands of Real Madrid on Thursday night.
Their coach, Michel, will have to watch his team from the stands after picking up a red card against the Spanish giants.
But this might not prevent him from inspiring his side to a much better outcome against Deportivo La Coruna.
Getafe's 4-2 defeat in the hands of Real Madrid was marked by poor play and Coach Michel confirmed this fact by saying in a post match interview:
"We failed on the ball and we only managed to retain possession in the second half when we pressed to reduce their [Real Madrid] capabilities. In the second half, we didn't even try."
A different approach will surely have to be taken when Getafe clash against Deportivo La Coruna. But maybe things won't be so difficult for the visitors to handle.
Deportivo have three men under suspension following events that happened in the match against Sporting Gijon earlier in the week.
Defender Alberto Lopo and goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia saw red just as their coach, Miguel Angel Lotina.
The absence of these three men could devastate Deportivo La Coruna but for Coach Lotina, the referee's controversial decisions and the three red cards have brought something positive to the club.
He told the press sarcastically:
"I must congratulate the referee for all that he's done. I have to thank him for uniting the dressing room. All this has served to unite our dressing room for the future."
Both Deportivo and Getafe dropped down in La Liga standings following defeats.
Getafe are now 9th with 37 points whereas Deportivo are 7th with 42 points like Athletic Bilbao in 6th.
