These results opened up a three-point gap between Sporting Gijon and Espanyol who both seat in the second half of La Liga table.
Now the club from Catalunya could close this gap to zero point with a win this weekend.
Meanwhile, Gijon could move into the top half of La Liga standings if they defeat Espanyol.
