Deportivo La Coruña vs CD Tenerife Match Preview
Match-day 25 will open with a clash between 6th placed Deportivo La Coruna and bottom side Tenerife. The match will kick off at 17:00 GMT at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor.
Last week, Deportivo were the victim of Villarreal’s hunger to regain pride after the Yellow Submarines humiliatingly lost 6-2 to Real Madrid a week before.
The Blanquiazules went down 1-0 and subsequently dropped from fifth to sixth in the table.
Deportivo La Coruna are now on 38 points, two behind Real Mallorca who moved up in the standings thanks to a 2-1 win away to Valladolid.
On Saturday, the host will try to take advantage of Tenerife’s sloppy defending so as to bounce back and keep up their hunt for a Champions League spot.
Tenerife lack 18 points behind their opponents and the alarm is ringing on them to pick up points before the end of the season.
On match-day 4 though, this bottom side were rattled 5-1 on their own soil by an in-form Real Madrid team who attacked without pity.
This ‘predictable’ defeat left Coach Jose Luis Oltra upset.
“Despite a few mistakes, I think that we competed at a great level. All defeats hurts, and heavy ones especially.”
Having failed to take advantage of Valladolid’s defeat last week, Tenerife are still locked on 20 points – four behind Real Zaragoza who are 17th.
Stealing points are a must now and Jose Luis Oltra is aware and optimistic about that. He declared:
“We will try to win the next 14 games and we are aware that we can survive by recording victories at home.”
Well, Tenerife’s match on Saturday will not be a home game. Let’s see what it can offer to the struggling visitors!
