Getafe vs Real Zaragoza Match Preview
Getafe and Real Zaragoza will open Saturday with a match at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium.
The home side from Madrid is 8th in La Liga standings and four points behind Athletic Bilbao. Getafe are yet to record a victory in the second part of the campaign. In their 20th game of the season, they were held to a goalless draw at home to Racing Santander.
This result followed with defeats away to Barcelona and Valencia which were marked by a draw against Almeria in between.
Getafe have conceded two goals in each of their last three matches only to be denied of victories.
On Saturday, they’ll face Real Zaragoza with the mission of inscribing their first La Liga victory in the year 2010.
From a Getafe point of view, memories against their upcoming opponents are bad. The first leg of this fixture ended in a 3-0 defeat back in September 2009.
The Madrid club is yet to prove that they’ve learned lessons from that miserable result.
Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza are not on a good run either. Despite recording more defeats (12) than 18th placed Valladolid (9), they seat just above the relegation zone with 21 points.
The battle to remain in La Liga has started since long ago so Zaragoza will be looking to add some other points to those that they’ve already grabbed thanks to 5 wins and 6 draws in as much as 23 matches.
One thing: fans will hope that the issue surrounding Jermaine Pennant’s recent lack of attendance for training will not affect the entire team’s concentration.
