The race is hot at the top of the league table with Barcelona emerging as favorites to retain their Spanish Primera La Liga title. The Blaugrana seem unstoppable with the likes of Messi, Ibrahimovic, and Daniel Alves. Each game they play is a goal exhibition.
However, Real Madrid also possess a bunch of stars and an experienced coach who think that his team does not need time to settle. But for defender Raul Albiol, the opinion is a bit different.
The Spanish international told the press:
"It’s difficult to keep a consistent level in every game, but we’ll manage it. We must be patient."
Match by match, Real Madrid’s 56-year-old Chilean manager tries to better his side from previous mistakes. After being less applauded for a patchy performance against Xerez despite the emphatic score line, Los Blancos destroyed Villarreal's heart in midweek with a deserved 2-0 victory.
Real Madrid look stronger and more natural now. On Saturday, they'll want to do even better against their opponents.
There are very few probabilities that Tenerife will create an upset at the Santiago Bernabeu. The promoted side lost both of their away matches this season and their lone victory came at home to Osasuna.
Alonso, who trained alone on Monday and Tuesday looks to recover well from the Achilles injury that he sustained against FC Zurich. The former Liverpool rock in midfield could be included in Pellegrini’s squad for their game against Tenerife this weekend.
Ruud Van Nilsterooy will definitely be out. The Dutch man made his return last week after being out for almost a year. He marked his comeback with a nice goal right at the end of the game but also picked up an injury which might sideline him for up to six weeks. It has been reported that Nilsterooy slightly tore a muscle in his left leg.
Real Madrid are suffering defensively, not only in terms of goals conceded on the pitch, but also in terms of available defenders.
Christoph Metzelder picked up and injury last week; now Alvaro Arbeloa also faces the same misery. The Spanish international will not face Tenerife this weekend as he has been sidelined for 10 days.
So Pellegrini will have to count on Sergio Ramos who came back from injury against Xerez last weekend. The Chilean boss should also have Pepe and Albiol available as well as Fernando Gago.
A repeat of their defensive display against Villarreal will certainly bring nothing else but triumph for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu this week-end.
