Wigan Athletic vs Burnley Match Preview
This weekend’s match against Burnley is a big one for Wigan. Burnley are just four points behind Wigan in the league.
Put another way, Wigan are just four points above the relegation threshold.
The reverse fixture ended 1-3 in favor of Wigan and now that they are at home they will surely expect to carry the day. In particular since Burnley has failed to win a single away match all season.
Mario Melchiot, who has missed the last three games due to injury, may be available. Charles N’Zogbia, however, is doubtful.
Steven Caldwell and Chris McCann are out through injury.
Wigan lost 1-2 at home to Villa earlier in the week so the loss of defenders can only be worrisome.
Sitting in 18th on 24 points, Burnley are staring relegation square in the face. Their last win was early February and speculation is rife regarding new manager Brian Laws’ future with the club.
Caldwell and McCann are both injured. On the bright side, however, Danny Fox and Steven Fletcher may both be available for the game against Wigan.
