Everton vs Bolton Match Preview
Everton failed to hold onto a two goal lead last weekend and could only manage a 2-2 draw away at Birmingham.
The Toffees also failed to hold onto American international Landon Donovan, whose 10 week loan is now over. Donovan is returning to the LA Galaxy of the MLS.
Injuries to Fellaini, Anichebe, Cahill, Osman, Saha and Senderos have dampened manager David Moyes’ squad selections. However, among that list of wounded the only player who is definitely out of the upcoming match is Fellaini. He’s out for the season in fact. The others may be available.
The Toffees are in ninth place on 42 points, two behind last week’s opponents Birmingham.
Everton lost 3-2 away to Bolton in the reverse fixture but their home record bodes well for the return match this weekend. The Toffees have won all of their last six league games at home.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle is delighted that Gary Cahill will be available again. Cahill has been out of action due to a blood clot in his arm. Although Cahill’s participation in the Everton match is not guaranteed, he is at least training again and may in fact be available at the weekend.
Bolton’s injury list is substantial. Joey O’Brien, Sean Davis, Gavin McCann, Stuart Holden and Chris Basham are all out.
The Trotters beat Wigan 4-0 last week. They now have three wins in four league games.
Owen Coyle sees Bolton’s home games as their league salvation this season, since his team is unbeaten in six matches at home.
But that hope will do them precious little good this weekend since they are playing away at Everton, and Bolton has just one win in 12 away matches.
