Hull City vs Arsenal Match Preview
Hull City need points. A 2-1 win over Manchester City in early February is the only bright spot in an otherwise bleak campaign record.
Now 19th in the table, relegation into the League Championship looks increasingly likely with each passing fixture.
Adding to manager Phil Brown’s concerns is his list of walking wounded. Injuries to Gardner, Geovanni, Olifinjana, Ashbee and Marney will surely cause Brown to seek creative ways to line his team up as they face Arsenal this weekend. Some optimism in the Tigers’ camp could spring from the fact that the Gunners have an injury list longer than their own.
Reports out of the Arsenal camp suggest that Spanish international midfielder Cesc Fabregas won’t play against Hull this weekend. But Fabregas didn’t play against Porto in the Champions League midweek either and the Gunners thumped the Portuguese side 5-0.
Arsenal beat Hull 3-0 at Emirates Stadium in December, and although the Gunners are beset with injuries there is no real reason to doubt that they’ll carry the day when they meet Hull at KC Stadium on Saturday. Except maybe that Hull will be at home and they’ll have their backs against the wall as relegation looms.
But what are the chances of Hull picking up three points against Arsenal? Slim. The Tigers will be hungry, however. Oh,…and it has been a strange season.
